This chassis is from a basic Hornby tank engine. In this case one that had a Thomas the Tank Engine body, hence the blue wheels.
A generally straight forward conversion. As the brushes for the wheels run straight up to the motor one side has to be bent over and soldered to the other. It means taking the motor out. There is plenty of space for a spring pich up and suffiecient mass to ensure sufficient downward force.
